October Demerara Criminal Assizes Opened

The October session of the Demerara Criminal Assizes opened on Tuesday (October, 4th, 2022) with a ceremonial parade. At the parade held in front of the Supreme Court Judicature, Justice Brassington Reynolds took the salute and inspected the Guard of Honour.

There was the usual parade by ranks of the Tactical Services Unit and the Guyana Police Force Band.

The parade commenced from the Brickdam Police Station into Croal Street, then into South Road where the salute was done. Ranks proceeded thereafter back onto Croal Street into Brickdam.

This is the final opening for the year and 307 criminal cases are expected to be heard. Of the amount there are 136 sexual offence cases.
