The courses, which will be conducted over a period of 12 weeks each, are administered by the Colonel Carl Morgan Non-Commissioned Tactics School, with training conducted at the Colonel John Clarke Military School, Base Camp Seweyo, the Colonel Robert Mitchell Jungle and Amphibious Training School and Base Camp Stephenson.

The courses were officially declared open today by Force Sergeant Major (FSM), Warrant Officer Class One (WO1) Raul Rodney at the New Horizon Building, Base Camp Seweyo.

In his address to the ranks, FSM Rodney explained the six roles and responsibilities he believed remain constant throughout all levels of Non-Commissioned Officer leadership. These were, preparing soldiers for military operations, enhancing the mental and physical well-being of soldiers, maintaining the standards of performance of soldiers and equipment, planning and leading unit activities, advising on and implementing the commander’s and the GDF policies and regulations, and preparing the leaders of tomorrow.

WO1 Rodney also urged the ranks to build their leadership foundation on the following; resilience, responsibility for improving and sustaining improvements at their units, the will to achieve their goals at all times, humility, and accountability. (GDF)
