Parents of children living with disabilities are expected to receive a $100,000 one-off cash grant next week.
“[E]very child living with a permanent disability will benefit from $100,000 as a one-off cash grant” Minister of Human Services and Social Security, Dr Vindhya Persaud told the 49th sitting of the National Assembly.
The government said the grant is intended to provide relief to parents and caregivers of children with disabilities. But to be eligible, persons would have had to submit a medical report and complete an application form to register at the National Commission on Disability (NCD). These persons, the government said, will also automatically be eligible to benefit from Public Assistance.
