Belle West and the National library were the two learning pods selected in June for the “Learning pods of the month” award. Awarded monthly, the accolades are given to club leaders who perform outstandingly as they lead their afterschool academic support programs for mostly vulnerable students in learning pods across Guyana.
The National Library learning pod was able to overcome some facility challenges and were accommodated in their move from their Tiger Bay location to the National Library. The current location offers more comfortable facilities for the children and improved reliable internet connectivity and this has improved attendance and overall productivity of the students. The National Library learning pod leadership team of volunteers and club leaders made the migration process efficient and transparent to the students.
The National Library pod leaders were recognized by a member of the learning pods leadership team, Ms Alisha Koulen, “The members of the (fmr) Tiger Bay pod have been very resilient throughout their many challenges. They have maintained their standards and given more since their transition to the National Library. Their team including club leader and volunteers all coordinate and work together exceptionally well. They maintain good structure and consistency with the students. We appreciate their hard work..”
Club leaders Mr Marvin Drakes, Ms Natasha David, Joella Serieux and club volunteers Shameza David and Micaela McGarrell will be reward with certificates and prizes.
