The Government signed a US$106.4 million contract with Ashoka Buildcon, an Indian company, to build the Ogle/Eccles Road. Yesterday’s signing ceremony, which was held at the Parking lot of Rucamel Shopping Plaza, at the Rupert Craig Highway and Ogle Road intersection, will see Buildcon constructing the first phase.

The 7.8 kilometers (4.8 miles) four-lane highway will be constructed with sidewalks and a median, while each of the lanes will be built at 3.6 meters wide. Referencing the traffic congestion, Minister within the Ministry of Public Works, Deodat Indar, observed the road, which will connect the East Coast to the East Bank, would serve as an alternative route to the Timehri airport.
