$1M worth of jewellery stolen from home of East Ruimveldt vendor

Police are investigating the alleged Break and Enter and Larceny committed on the dwelling house of a 47-year-old female vendor of East Ruimveldt, Georgetown, of over G$1,000,000 worth in jewellery.

The alleged break-in occurred on Tuesday, June 21, 2022 between 16:00 hours and 23:45 hours by person(s) unknown.

According to the victim, on the said date at about 16:00 hours, she secured her home and went to work. Upon her return about 23:45 hours, as she entered the house and into her bedroom, she noticed a window facing east was ajar with the wooden bars pried out and the room and wardrobe were ransacked.

The woman further made checks when she discovered the articles – one gold band valued G$270,000; seven gold rings valued G$756,000; one gold chain valued G$63,000 and one gold earring valued G$27,000, missing.

Several persons in the area were questioned, however no useful information was received.

Further investigations are ongoing.
