Police said the accident involved motor Lorry #GAB 1668 owned by Mark Forrester, a 23-year-old male of MacKenzie, Linden and driven at the time by Orael Davis, a 28-year-old male of MacKenzie, Linden and Sampson.

Enquiries disclosed that on the date and time mentioned above, the motor lorry was proceeding north along the western side of the said road when the pedestrian, who was sitting on a tyre on the western side of the road, suddenly ran from west going east and into the path of the motor lorry.

The driver of the motor lorry then applied brakes but because of the short distance the left side front collided with the pedestrian. As a result, the pedestrian fell onto the road surface and received injuries about his head and body. The pedestrian was picked up in an unconscious condition by the police and was taken to the Diamond Diagnostic Center where he was seen and examined by doctors on duty and was pronounced dead on arrival. The body was then escorted to Carmen’s Funeral Home for storage, awaiting identification and post mortem examination. Traffic Ranks from Police Regional Division 4 ‘B’ visited the scene and took measurements, statements, and photographs of the vehicle.

The driver was administered a breathalyzer test but no trace of alcohol was found in his system. He in presently in custody assisting with the ongoing investigation.
