Party should take stock of questionable acts

Dear Editor,

This has relevance to “Will the PPP ever penalise their party comrades?” (KN Apr 28). This is a telling question. Will there be a positive response? There seems to be a return to pre-2015 – arrogance, heavy handedness, biased contracting, nepotism, and even complaints of corruption.

One example, among many illustrations, stands out.

I can vouchsafe about one individual with questionable actions and whose arrogance persists, one of several I am aware of. This unnamed person of Region 6, a Berbician, has had a meteoric rise in status and wealth.

He has graduated from being a taxi driver, trade unionist of a sugar union, Regional Councillor, Regional Chair, businessman, organizing secretary of a party, Member of Parliament, and now higher office than that of being a mere MP, in addition to being a bigger businessman.

Correspondingly, there has been an astronomical growth in financial gains. Has he hung himself in the awarding of a huge $650 million contract to a single female kin who recently registered a company? The public is taking stock. The party that this individual belongs to should also take stock as it is losing support. There will be support consequences.

Yours truly,
Mukesh Narine
