Inmate found with ganja, cell phones at Mazaruni Prison

An inmate was found with a quantity of Marijuana, cell phones and other contraband at the Mazaruni Prison.
In a statement police said, on 2022-03-10 about 07:25 hours prison officials performing duties in the Mazaruni Prison observed inmate John Caesar, was walking heading to the Security Block, with a 5-gallon bottle in his hand. Upon calling him, he ignored and continued walking.

The prison rank caught up to him and enquired about the contents of the bottle he had in his hand and he stated that it was water. The rank then collected the said bottle and escorted him to the office and in his presence, opened the said bottle and found therein a quantity of leaves seeds and stems suspected to be cannabis along with three cellular phones, three cellular phone chargers, 20 packs cigarettes and one cellular phone earpiece.
Bartica Police Station was informed and responded. The said inmate, narcotic and other prohibited items were escorted to the Bartica Police Station where the narcotic was weighed in his presence and amounted to 3010 grams (3 Kg 10 g). The inmate was returned to Mazaruni Prison pending charge
