…body found hanging on tree
The police are investigating a suspected murder after the lifeless body of a 48-year-old woman was discovered hanging from a tree at Yarrowkabra, Soesdyke-Linden Highway.
Dead is Edith Reuben, a housewife who investigators suspect was murdered sometime between 00:30 and 06:00 hours on Tuesday, February 8.
“CSI sleuths from Regional Division 4B are piecing together the circumstances which caused her demise and preliminary investigations revealed that the deceased lived with her reputed husband who disclosed that they, along with several neighbours were consuming high wine on February 7, and all except one male left for their respective residences,” the police said in a statement.
Based on reports received, the woman was last seen on the veranda alive consuming alcohol at 00:30hrs on Tuesday when her reputed husband and the other male decided to retire to bed. The police said at 04:00hrs the male guest woke her reputed husband to indicate he was departing and after acknowledging, the husband went back to sleep.
Two hours after, he alleges that he awoke and made the gruesome discovery of his reputed wife’s motionless body hanging from a mango tree in the yard.
The body was uplifted and escorted to the Diamond Diagnostic Centre where she was confirmed dead. Post mortem examination is expected shortly.
Police so far will only say that the positioning of the deceased’s body suggests she was murdered and her body placed at the scene. The male guest who overnighted has not been found for questioning as yet. Investigations continue.
