Police are investigating the murder of Carlos DeShawn Waithe, aged 24-years, a clothes vendor of Norton Street Werk-en-Rust, Georgetown, which occurred early Monday morning at Leopold Street between Breda and Smyth Streets.
According to police investigators, the now deceased and several friends were consuming alcohol Sunday night in Charlestown after which Waithe then told them he was heading to a popular bar and left.
About 04:00 hours, Carlos Waithe showed up at a popular bar on Breda Street in the company of an identifiable male who became involved in an argument with several males at the bar which caused him to run east on Leopold Street towards Smyth Street, with the men giving chase during which several explosions (suspected to be gunshots) were heard.
Carlos Waithe subsequently ran behind the men saying “y’all can’t shoot da man”, when the men turned on him (Waithe) and an argument ensued, during which two more suspected gunshots were heard and Waithe fell to the ground. The injured man was picked up and taken to Woodlands Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival. No one has been arrested so far, as police investigations continue
