A 40-year-old man, who resides at Beehive on the East Coast of Demerara, was placed on $500,000 bail when he appeared at the Vigilance Magistrate’s Court to answer to the charge of rape.
The accused has been identified as Erwin Owen Marcus.
Marcus appeared before Magistrate Fabio Azore at the Vigilance Magistrate’s Court where he was not allowed to plea to the indictable charge when it was read to him. The offence is contrary to Section 3 of the Sexual Offences Act Chapter 8:03.
After being placed on bail the matter was adjourned until January 11, 202
