Man arrested after calling Rose Hall Mayor ‘ Waste man’

A 53-year-old man was on Sunday arrested after allegedly assaulting the Mayor of Rose Hall and also calling him a ‘Waste man’

Police in a statement said the incident happened around 11:50 hours Sunday  at Hampshire Civic Clinic Center.

Polic said information received from the mayor states that he was at a meeting at Hampshire Civic Clinic Center with Minister of of Local Government Mr. Nigel Dharamlall and various councilors from Kilcoy, Hampshire and Rose Hall Town NDC Councilors discussing drainage and irrigation which commenced about 10:00hrs and concluded about 11:30 hrs, on 2021-10-10.

After the said meeting he and the suspect were in the Civic Clinic Compound when they both had an heated argument over cleaning of Williamsburg Street Corentyne Berbice.

The suspect became annoyed and started to abuse the mayor calling him a waste man and dealt him a cuff behind his neck.

The matter was reported at Rose Hall Town Police Outpost and the victim was escorted to the Port Mourant Hospital where he was seen and examined by a doctor on duty, treated and sent away. The suspect was arrested and place into custody pending charges.
