Lady Jags Begin Historic Journey to 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup

Guyana’s Senior Women’s National Team, the Lady Jags, are set to make history as they kick off their campaign for a spot at the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup. The team will host Nicaragua on Monday, December 1, as the 2025/26 Concacaf W Qualifiers officially begin.

The eagerly anticipated opening match will take place at the National Track and Field Facility, West Coast Demerara, where the Lady Jags aim to seize early momentum in a fiercely competitive Group B.

With the energy of home support behind them and the pride of the nation on the line, the team is ready to rise to the occasion. The Guyana Olympic Association urged fans to get behind the squad, saying:


“With home-field energy behind them and national pride on the line, the Lady Jags will look to seize early momentum in what promises to be a fiercely competitive Group B campaign. Let’s support and rally behind our team as they begin their journey on the road to the World Cup! 🇬🇾💛💚❤️ Let’s Go Lady Jags!”

The match marks the start of what promises to be an inspiring and historic journey for women’s football in Guyana, as the Lady Jags aim to showcase their talent on the international stage and bring pride to the nation.
