Venezuelan hot dog vendor found dead behind Sleepin Hotel

A 32-year-old Venezuelan hot dog vendor was found dead with marks of violence behind the Sleepin Hotel in an alleyway on August 1, 2021.

Dead is Ilan Antonio Singh who resided at 5 North Road, Bourda Georgetown. Police reports stated that around 06:00 hours, a maintenance worker at the Sleepin Hotel, while on duty, discovered the body of the deceased lying in the said alleyway.

The alleyway is usually used by the management of the Sleepin Hotel to pack garbage.

According to a female associate of the deceased, about 00:30 hours on August 1, Singh told her that he was going to a party at Rio Club located at Forshaw Street Queenstown and he left walking.

The body was examined and what appeared to be wounds were seen to his head along with bruises on his knees, right hand and his left shoulder. The body was transferred to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC) where he was pronounced dead. The deceased was then escorted to Sandy’s Funeral Home awaiting post mortem examination.

Investigations are underway with the police treating the matter as an alleged murder.
