According to the Diabetology & Metabolic Syndrome Journal (April 8, 2015), “Guyana has an adult diabetes prevalence of 15.9%, the second highest prevalence of any country in the Americas.” These are scary and unhealthy place for Guyana and Guyanese. In 2021 the percentage of persons suffering for diabetes is probably the same if not higher.

Dr. Gojka Roglic, Technical Officer of the World Health Organisation (WHO) diabetes programme, in a Question and Answer session responds to how the pandemic could affect people with diabetes. Medical clarity is being brought to what it means for these persons contracting the virus, the risks pose if you are infected, and whether diabetics should take the vaccine. Take a listen
