The body of a Brazilian man was discovered hanging at his apartment at the Regent Guest House on Regent Street on Tuesday afternoon.

Reports are that the body of the man, who manages a restaurant downstairs at the hotel, was found by staff sometime after 1500hrs. The man , called ‘Berto’ or ‘Roberto’ reportedly owed persons sums of monies ,a  friend related to the Village Voice newspaper. He said  this may have led to the man taking his own life.

A large crowd converged at the popular guest house on Tuesday afternoon shortly after news spread of the man’s demise. Police sources at the scene noted that no marks of violence were found on the man’s body.

Police are investigating the incident.
