A Stabroek Square vendor was on Tuesday afternoon stabbed to death during a row over the placement of a stall.
Dead is Robert Bizzette called ‘Brick’ aged 35 a vendor of Cane View South Ruimveldt.
Police said the suspect is a 46-year-old male who has been arrested and in custody.
Enquries disclosed that the suspect and Bizzette are both vendors at Stabroek Square.
On Tuesday Bizzette and the suspect had an argument about the placement of a stall during which Bizzette allegedly drew a jucker and threatened the suspect.
The suspect retaliated by pushing the victim and drawing a knife.
The argument continued and Bizzette then chased the suspect armed with an axe in his hand while the suspect was armed with the knife.
The suspect fell to the groud and Bizzette stopped chasing him. As he was walking away, the suspect dealt him several stabs.
Bizzette then ran to the police mobile outpost where he fell to the groud and was immediately escorted to the Georgetown Public Hospital where he died while receiving treatment.
The suspect was later contacted and arrested at Camp and New Market Streets by an anti crime patrol.
Statements have been taken and further investigations are continuing.
