According to the police, 56-year-old Mumtaz Ali set his room on fire due to a conflict between himself and his tenant.

Ali had reportedly served his female tenant a lawyer’s letter to remove from the premises to which she failed to comply.

“On the date and time mentioned the tenant and her children were selling food when the observed smoke coming from the house. They claim that they saw the landlord running from the house into the neighbour’s yard,” the police reported.

The Fire Service was summoned and the fire was extinguished with only damages being done to the house.

Investigations in progress.
