We cannot be this heartless if we want one Guyana

Dear Editor

I know by now you probably get that I am on the One Guyana train from my past letters, but when this train seems to be throwing off a part of the Guyanese population I get confused and hurt at the same time.
A few days ago GWI told the Guyanese population that they will be firing about 300 staff who are costing them millions in expense every month. Now let us be honest, GWI said that the past government hired over 600 persons during their time and that many of them are redundant. So what they are saying is that they will begin to fire the people that the past government hired which we would say are coalition people.

Now how do we compare the expense GWI is saying they had to offset due to an increase in staffing with the billions the our government continues to give to sugar every year, and we get no returns from it?
This is a clear sign of spite against a specific set or group of people. This can never be a one Guyana policy, you got to be heartless to send home 300 people during this hard time.

I call on my fellow PPP/c members and supporters to speak up against this kind of behaviour, we cannot be this heartless if we want one Guyana. They got President Ali looking like a hypocrite, we need him to address this now.

Regards

Daniel Basdeo
