Dear Editor

The death of Mr. Eshwar Vevekanand ‘Vic’ Persaud at the age of 82 has robbed the country of the service of a conscientious, stalwart and scrupulous public servant.

Mr. Persaud, with more than sixty years in the public service – as an accountant, Foreign Service Officer, Chief of Protocol and Advisor on Protocol Affairs – accumulated vast experience and expertise in his field. He was a mentor to new entrants to the service and was a reservoir of knowledge on governmental affairs.

Mr. Persaud had the privilege of serving every Executive President of Guyana from Mr. Forbes Burnham to Mr. Irfaan Ali.

A man of natural good humor and cheerfulness, he will be remembered fondly by all who knew him in the Public Service.  The PNC extend sincere condolences to Carol, his widow, and children at this time of their bereavement.

Regards
People’s National Congress,

Congress Place
