Two deaths; 99 new cases recorded on Saturday

Guyana recorded some 99 new Covid-19 cases on Saturday and also two deaths as this country continues to struggle to contain the disease.

In a statement the Ministry of Health informed that as of March 19, 2021, two more persons who tested positive for the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) died. This takes the total number of deaths from the pandemic to 214.

The latest fatalities are one two men, one age 70 from Region Seven (Cuyuni- Mazaruni) and another 50 -years-old from Region Four (Demerara-Mahaica). They both died while receiving care at a medical facility.

The ministry expressed sincerest condolences to the families of the two deceased and undertaken to make every effort to provide all the necessary support during this difficult time to render any assistance needed.

Meanwhile, with the 99 new cases Guyana has now recorded 9585 cases sicne the virus reached these shores last year March. Ten persons are in the Covid Intensive Care Unit.
