Mrs. Primrose Adlin Johnson of Lot 28 Belladrum, West Coast Berbice better known as Sister Rose is the latest person to join the elite ranks of Guyanese centenarians.
Mrs Johnson was born at Belladrum on Monday March 14, 1921 to Ms Primrose Fordyce and Charles McDonald Fraser and so celebrates her one hundredth birth anniversary today.
She was one of eleven siblings all of whom have passed.
Her husband Joseph Johnson passed in 1996.
Sister Rose a staunch Anglican has to date survived and or escaped all the major maladies such as diabetes , strokes heart disease , alzheimers, high blood pressure and others associated with aging.
She is today the proud mother of six sons and one daughter and grand mother and great grandmother and great great grandmother of several others some of whom reside locally and some of whom reside abroad.
Earlier today relatives and friends as well as Parliamentarians of the Opposition as well as Government visited her home and showered her with gifts and congratulations and best wishes for continued longevity.
The team of Opposition Parliamentarians was led by Leader of the Opposition Mr Joseph Harmon and comprised Hon. Chief Whip Christopher Jones, Hon. Natasha Singh Lewis MP, Hon. Coretta McDonald MP and former MP Ms Amna Ali,
They presented her with gifts and hampers and toasted her on the occasion.
Mr. Harmon on behalf of the APNU AFC Coalition expressed gratitude to her for her exemplary lifestyle and her contributions to the community of Belladrum.
Hon. Faizal Jaffarally M.P and Mr. Rion Peters – Regional Vice Chairman of the Regional Democratic Council of Region 5 (Mahaica/Berbice) represented the Government.
Mr Jaffarally and Mr Peters joined in the congratulations and then presented her with two (2) Hampers of gifts on behalf of the Regional Democratic Council, Region No. 5.
The celebrations at her sons residence lasted until early evening.(END)
