Man stabbed five times for representing girlfriend

A man from Hubu Hill, Mabaruma North West District was stabbed some five times on Tuesday night by a man who was allegedly disrespectful l to his girlfriend.

According to police report, Micheal Pierre was rushed to the Mabaruma Regional Hospital and later air dashed to the Georgetown Public Hospital for further medical treatment after the incident occurred.

Pierre’s mother told the police that he left to attend a ‘wake’ in the community about 18:30hrs on Tuesday but later returned around 22:30hrs with blood gushing from five stab wounds to his upper body. He claimed to have received the same from a man who was disrespecting his (Pierre’s) girlfriend.

The suspect has since been arrested while a knife, now believed to be the weapon used to commit the act, has been recovered. The matter is under police investigation.
