…bandits escape with $430,000 in jewellery, cash, cellphone   

Police are investigating an alleged armed robbery committed on a 19-year-old resident of ‘A’ Field Sophia, Greater Georgetown on Friday.

Police said in a release that the crime occurred about 13:00hrs on Friday at the said address by two unidentifiable males, one of whom was armed with a handgun.

Information received so far indicated that the victim was at home sitting in the kitchen area, participating in a virtual classroom session, with the top half of a door left open. The suspects approached and held him at gunpoint. They reportedly searched the entire house, relieved the victim of a total of Gy$430,000 worth of jewellery, cellphones and cash and made good their escape in a western direction. Several persons in the area were questioned. Close circuit television (CCTV) cameras were also seen and is to be reviewed.  No arrest has been made so far as investigation continues.
