Be informed that on Tuesday 2021-02-09 @ about 02:00 hours, One Joshua Samaro age 19 years a Clerk of lot 274 Pilot Street New Amsterdam Berbice reported to police at Springlands station, that he received a cellphone call from his mother Sharida Hussein c/d Sherry unemployed age 48 years of the said address on 2021-02-08 at about 19:30 hours, who left for Suriname sometime in 2020, saying that she was returning home (Guyana) via boat.
Sometime after he spoke with his mother ,who told him that she was dropped off at # 63 Beach at a specific point and that the water was at her waist level and the place was dark. He subsequently tried to call her back but this proved futile. A search was carried out by family members but there has been no sighting of Sharida.
Further information received that they were two (2) other persons a male and a female. The female is Babuni Harrier c/d Dorris age 75 a pensioner of Glasgow Housing Scheme New Amsterdam Berbice no particulars currently available for the male. The Coast Guard was contacted and a patrol vessel will be activated from New Amsterdam to # 61 along the Corentyne River, while a boat and engine will be activated from Springlands with members of the Guyana Police Force (GPF) and family members to make checks along the Corentyne River coastline and mobile patrols will be within the vicinity of # 61 to Molseen Creek.
