Taxi driver shot dead in North East La Penitence

Police are investigating an alleged murder committed on 29-year-old taxi driver, Osafo Pollard of West La Penitence who was allegedly shot to the head on Tuesday at North East La Penitence.

Inquiries disclosed that on Tuesday, about 22:30h, a loud explosion similar to that of a gunshot was heard followed by persons screaming and running away. Subsequently, Pollard was seen lying with a wound to his head.

He was picked up and taken to Georgetown Public Hospital where he died about 00:20h on Wednesday while receiving treatment. A wound was seen to his head.

The body is at the said hospital mortuary awaiting Post Mortem Examination.

Investigations are ongoing.
