Barbie Dam man shot trice during ambush

A 22-year-old man was on Sunday morning shot trice by four unidentifiable men at Barbie Dam, East La Penitence. At about 04:46h

According to reports, Osafo Johnson, a labourer had left Tower Hotel, Main Street with his reputed wife Yunnyzy Medina (26) in a Toyota Axio motor car which is owned and driven by David Green to go home .

Green reportedly stopped the car at Barbie dam for the Victim to walk in to get to his home, when two cars, model and registration numbers unknown, drove up from behind and blocked the path of Green’s car.

“The occupants of both unknown cars exited and started to call out for the victim’s name. The Victim along with his reputed wife exited Greens motor car and attempted to run and one of the men discharged several rounds at him, causing him to receive three gun shots, to his hands and left side abdomen,” Police said in a statement.

The perpretrators then made good their escape with the said cars to an unknown location.

Johnson was taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital where he is receiving medical treatment. His condition is listed is stable.

“Two 9mm spent shells and one suspected 9mm war head were recovered at the scene,” Police said while disclosing that Green has been detained for further questioning while investigations continue.
