Police probing death of NewAmsterdam labourer

Police are investigating the death of 40-year-old Mark Griffth, a labourer of Symthfield, New Amsterdam, Berbice who died on Sunday afternoon while receiving treatment at the New Amsterdam Hospital.

Reports are that Griffith was consuming alcohol all of Sunday at his home when an argument ensured between him and the suspect. The argument was quelled by Griffith’s sister who lives at the said location.

Police said that at about 17:10h, Grifftih’s sister was summoned by a friend and upon arrival she saw her brother laying in a trench bleeding profusely from a wound on his chest.

Griffith was rushed to the New Amsterdam Hospital by the duo but died while receiving treatment.

The suspect was arrested and is assisting with the investigation.
