Duo arrested, stolen items recovered following armed robbery of 19-year old

Two men have been arrested in connection with the armed robbery of 19-year-old Yogeswar Seemangal of Land of Canan, East Bank Demerara (EBD) and the items stolen from him have been recovered.

According to reports, at around 20:45h on Tuesday, he victim was walking along Cornhill Street, Georgetown when he was confronted by three men, one of whom was armed with a cutlass.

The perpetrators took away his haversack along with a mobile phone and a pair of earpods before making good their escape.

Police responded to the report made by the man and two of the perpetrators were arrested at Lombard Street, Georgetown where the stolen items were found along with the cutlass used in the robbery.

The duo remain in police custody.
Police said efforts are continuing to apprehend the third suspect.
