Goed Fortuin labourer, seven others arrested for weed, stolen items

The items believed to have been stolen

A 23-year-old Goes Fortuin, West Bank Demerara (WBD) man along with seven others were on Saturday arrested for being in possession of 30 grams of cannabis and items believed to have been stolen.

In a statement, Police said that between 12:30h and 13:10h, a party of Police conducted a raid at the home of the 23-year-old man. Upon arrival, the man was informed by detectives that reports were received that he is in possession of narcotics, guns, ammunition and stolen items at his home and that a search would be conducted.

The 30 grams of cannabis

The suspect complied with the ranks’ request and invited them into his home. During the search Police found one bulky black plastic bag which was opened in his presence and contained a quantity of leaves, seeds, and stems which were suspected to be cannabis; one complete Xbox game system with eight discs; one BLU cellphone and one pair of binoculars.

The man was questioned about the items but according to Police he did not give “a favorable explanation as to how he acquired them” and was arrested.

Subsequent to the man’s arrest, the ranks searched behind the said building where seven persons were found and arrested. They were all taken to the Parfait Harmony Police Station.

The aforementioned items have since been lodged and the seven persons remain in police custody assisting with investigations.
