The Glock 17 pistol with four live 9mm rounds of ammunition

Ranks of the Guyana Police Force (GPF) on Saturday seized a Glock 17 pistol along with four live 9mm rounds of ammunition on Aubrey Barker Road, South Ruimveldt, in the vicinity of Penny Lane after two men, one of whom was armed dropped the weapon.

According to Police, the ranks of Regional Division 4 ‘A’ were on patrol when they heard an explosion which they believed to be a gun shot. They proceeded to Penny Lane and west into a street, they saw a silver/ grey wagon from which two identifiable men exited. One of the men was armed with a black handgun.

Upon seeing the ranks, the car sped away and the two men ran into a nearby yard.

“The ranks chased after the men who jumped a concrete fence and made good their escape in a western direction. The said firearm along with the magazine containing four live 9MM ammunition which was dropped during the chase was picked up by the ranks and lodged,” Police said.

The investigation is ongoing.
