CANU seizes 80 lbs ganja at Dukestown

Officers of the Customs Anti-Narcotic Unit (CANU) officers on Wednesday afternoon seized fifteen parcels containing 80 lbs of cannabis at Dukestown, East Berbice – Corentyne (Region Six).
CANU in a statement said that at about 16:00h, the officers acting on information received proceeded to the community of Dukestown.

While there, the officers they observed three males walking along a dam , two of whom were carrying bags on their shoulders. Upon seeing the CANU officers, the men dropped the bags and fled into the bushes.

“The officers then discovered two (2) “ rice bags” containing several parcels of cannabis,” CANU said in its statement.

Investigations are ongoing.
