Venezuelan labourer drowned while untangling seine from propeller

A 72-year-old Venezuelan labourer of Gumanaj, Venezuela drowned on Tuesday at Morawhanna, North West District after plunging overboard to free a boat’s propeller which was entangled with a seine.
Dead is Daniel Enrique Medina.
According to reports, at about 09:00h Medina, and his 42-year-old son were traveling in a 22- feet metal boat when the boat’s propeller became entangled with a seine. The senior Medina volunteered to untangle the propeller and plunged into the river to free it.
“The man reportedly went down but never resurfaced,” Police said in a statement.
The deceased’s son reported the matter to the Morawhanna Police Station at about 11:00h on Tuesday.
Investigations are ongoing.
