The 9MM firearm and 12 live 9MM ammunition found by police

A 46-year-old security of Park Street, Enterprise, East Coast Demerara (ECD) along with his friends were on Saturday night arrested and taken to the Vigilance Police Station for being in possession of a firearm and ammunition.

According to police, at about 23:20, a team of policemen under the command of an Assistant Superintendent were on patrol when they observed a group of persons consuming alcohol at the Chico Ramas Gas Station, Coldingen, E.C.D.
Police said a Toyota Allion motorcar which was parked with a female seated in the front passenger seat was observed. Several males were also seated on a bench next to the said vehicle.

The group was warned and told to leave the location for their homes.
Police said at that time, one of the males, the security officer, approached the car and opened the right rear door and removed an object which appeared to be a firearm. The man proceeded to the western half of the gas station, where he threw the object next to a “stand”.

“Ranks upon searching the area recovered 9MM along with 12 live 9MM ammunition,” a statement from the Police said Monday.
Investigation is ongoing.
