According to police, at about 20:30 the car was proceeding west along the southern side of Hillfoot Public Road, when it is alleged by the driver that a “unknown motor vehicle” which was proceeding in the opposite direction, overtook another vehicle and ended up in his path.

The driver of the car said he maneuvered the vehicle in a southern direction to avoid a collision and that resulted in his right back tyre blowing out, causing him to lose control. The car toppled and ended up in a trench.

As a result, the female passenger who was seated in the back seat of the car received injuries about her head. She was taken out of the vehicle in an unconscious condition by the driver and public spirited citizens and taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital.
The driver in custody assisting with the investigation.
