Man to be charged with murder of 16-year-old Baramita girl

The Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) has recommended that Wickroy ‘Shatta’ Mitchell be charged with the murder of the 16-year-old Baramita Village, North West District girl.

Mitchell is scheduled to appear at court today via Skype from Port Kaituma Police Station.
According to Police reports, on Saturday, the 16-year-old girl and her mother went to a shop in Five Star Backdam, where they purchased alcohol and started to consume it (Extra Mature Rum) with water. At the time, they were in the company of several persons including a man.

“About 15:00 hours the deceased and her mother became intoxicated where they bought a quarter bottle extra rum and some rice after which they left in company of the said male for home,” the police reported.
According to the shop owner, the teen’s mother later returned to the shop, and remained there for several hours.
The next day, Sunday, November 15, 2020, the 16-year-old was discovered motionless around 7:30hrs behind their dwelling quarters.

The matter was reported to the Matthew’s Ridge Police Station.
