The North West Secondary School at Mabaruma, North West District

A student of the North West Secondary School in Mabaruma , who moved into the school’s dormitory last week, has tested positive for COVID-19.
Reports are that some 30 students who live at remote areas within the Region One administrative capital reside at the dormitory during the normal school year. Last Monday, the school reopened its doors to facilitate Grades 10 and 11 students, however some parents were reluctant to send their children to take up residence at the dormitory.
Of the 30 students, only 19 turned up for school and the authorities there administered COVID-19 tests on staff and the students. The student , who hails from the riverine village of Hobodia, has been placed in quarantine, a source at the Mabaruma hospital told the Village Voice on Sunday.
The total number of COVID-19 cases recorded in Region One to date stands at 804. A significant percentage of that total has since recovered.
