Investigation thus far revealed that the deceased was employed by a miner of No. 40 Village West Coast Berbice, as a miner and according to his employer on 24th October 2020, about 21:00 hrs he ‘washed down’ his dredge and paid all his workers including the deceased who later left his camp and went to Quartz Stone Landing.

According to a miner/shop owner operating at Quartz Stone, on the date and time mentioned above he was at his shop sleeping when someone woke him and told him that the suspect had just killed the deceased infront of his shop. Upon venturing outside he saw the deceased lying about 12 feet north of his shop motionless and thus immediately made a report to the police.

Upon arrival at the scene the body was found in the aforementioned location clad in a pair of 3/4 pants and dark blue T-Shirt. It was examined and two incise wounds were seen to the head and  throat. The body is presently being escorted to the Bartica Regional Hospital. Statements taken. Search underway for the suspect. Investigation continues.
