Enquiries disclosed that the motor car was proceeding north along  the western lane of Golden Fleece Public Road, Essequibo Coast allegedly at a lfast rate of speed when it is alleged by the driver of the motor car that the pedal cyclist who was riding on the eastern lane, heading south, suddenly swerved west into the path of his vehicle and collided.

As a result of the impact the pedal cyclist was flung some distance away to the western lane where he sustained injuries about his head and body and began bleeding profusely from his head, police said in a release.  He was subsequently picked up in an unconscious condition and conveyed to Suddie Public Hospital where he was seen and examined by a doctor on duty who pronounced him dead. His body was then taken to Suddie Hospital Mortuary where it awaits Post Mortem Examination.
The driver of the motor car was arrested at the scene and taken to the Suddie Police Station and placed into custody where he is assisting with  investigation as it continues.
