Police said that investigation thus far revealed that the woman had shared a relationship with  a dredge owner in the said area.  However about 19:30 hours on 2020/10/03 the dredge owner allegedly left the woman at the camp cooking whilst he and the workers left and went to the landing where they began drinking alcohol at a shop. The other suspect was amongst the drinking party. Police said  about 21:30 hours the miner left the gathering saying that he was going to take a bath.

Sunday morning about 06:30 hours the body of the woman was found floating in a pit behind their camp, and a report was made to the police.
On arrival at the scene the body of the woman was found in the said pit, clad in a blue jersey and without any underwear and multiple marks of violence in the form of hematoma were seen about her body.

Based on information received the ranks contacted and arrested the miner and the dredge owner who remain in custody and are assisting with the investigation as it continues.
