Investigations by the Guyana Water Incorporated (GWI) have concluded that the recent disruption of water supply to residents of White Water, Mabaruma in Region One was as result of tampering.

In a terse message on Sunday, GWI urged citizens to desist from interfering with its water systems as this comes at the expense of others and the Company.

“It was observed that the wire connected to the flow sensor at the well station, which serves the community was pulled, resulting in the water supply system being disrupted,” GWI stated.

“GWI addressed the issue today, Sunday, 13th September, 2020 and water was restored to residents of White Water. A new fence will be constructed around the well and pump station in collaboration with the village council to prevent a recurrence. The company wishes to condemn such acts and encourage residents to desist from tampering with the water supply system, which will only result in an inconvenience to the residents of the community.”
