The tragic loss of Joel and Isaiah Henry has inspired the family to start a scholarship fund to influence positive change in honour of the teens.

This was announced by cousin of the boys, Dr Nicolette Henry, at their home going ceremony on Sunday morning.

In an emotional tribute, Dr Henry disclosed that the family was driven to create a path of positive impact for other youths in their village.

“We the family would like to impact positive changes in the community,” she said. Elaborating further she said “we will commemorate Joel and Isaiah through a memorial scholarship fund, because we know that education is a gift that lasts a lifetime. The memorial scholarship programme will provide meaningful ways for this family to honour Joel and Isaiah, by carrying their legacy forward to future generations of students, especially bearing in mind that they will never be able to have children nor grandchildren. Because their lives were snuffed out in the prime of their youth,” Dr Henry stated.

No further details were disclosed on the scholarship, however, she urged the massive crowd to cherish the moments spent with family, as they are grateful to have pleasant memories to hold on to with Isaiah and Joel.

“I want all of you that have sons, grandsons, nephews, uncles, brothers and cousins and fathers, to give them a hug while they can feel you and hear you. We can’t give Joel or Isaiah a hug or a five again. These are the simple things that many people take for granted,” Henry charged.

The teen boys received an emotional send off on Sunday as scores of people came out to pay tribute, and the call continues for equal rights and justice.
