Dead: Paul Lowe

Guyana has recorded three COVID-19 deaths on Thursday, 32-year-old Paul Lowe of Providence, East Bank Demerara (EBD); 66-year-old Monyra Moses from Demerara Mahaica and 65-year-old Alfred Gonsalves of Sophia, Greater Georgetown. This brings the total to 51 COVID-19 related deaths recorded in Guyana thus far.

The friends and family of Lowe were shaken by the announcement of his death and took to social media to express their grief. Condolences were extended to Lowe’s wife and their children.

“You have left some wonderful memories that will never fade from my heart. It’s very hard to know that your beautiful daughters have to grow up without a dad,” friend of Lowe, Milan Rodrigues said.

Several others who became friends with Lowe during their time at the Brickdam Secondary School also expressed their shock and condolences. “My heart has never been this broken, I was praying like I’ve never prayed before. Paul was the friend that was there when I was out of a job… you will always live in my heart Paul Lowe,” another friend, Atoya Caesar said.

Earlier today, the Ministry of Health also announced the death of 65-year-old Alfred Gonsalves of Sophia, Greater Georgetown. According to the Ministry: “Officials of the Ministry have contacted all relatives and persons to facilitate contact tracing and rapid assistance to everyone who may have been exposed to the now-dead person(s).”

To date, Guyana has recorded 1,750 COVID cases with Region Four accounting for the highest figure of 670. Close behind are Regions 9, 7, One and Three.
