
Four of the suspects in the slaughter of the Henry cousins of No.3 Village West Coast Berbice have been released, police said Thursday night.
Meanwhile Police said too that they have arrested four persons in relation to the murder of Pritipaul Hargobin, a 34-year-old man who reportedly fired shots at protestors before he was beaten to death, but no arrests have been made for the murder of 17-year-old Haresh Singh.
In a joint press statement this evening, the Joint Services updated the general public on matters unfolding in Bath Settlement, West Coast Berbice set into motion by the killing of Afro-Guyanese teens, Joel and Isaiah Henry in the village.

Singh, reportedly the grandson of a suspect in custody for the murder of the teens, was found beaten to death in the area. It was the protests concerning the Henry boys that also led to the killing of Hargobin. The police are yet to reveal any leads on the initial murders which many have described as gruesome and likely linked to racial discrimination.
The Joint Services statement indicated that the Chief of Staff (ag) and the Commissioner of Police (ag) visited the West Berbice area today to meet the bereaved relatives of Joel and Isaiah and to have a firsthand appreciation of activities on the ground, as well as to assess the issue of welfare of the ranks.
Subsequently, they met the relatives of Singh. “Additionally, based on the assessment of the operations, added resources were deployed to the West Berbice area in furtherance of the maintenance of law and order and facilitation of unhindered flow of traffic in the area,” the statement indicated.
The Joint Services reported to have received attacks to the Joint Services by protestors but the ranks were able to the stretches of roads that were blocked along West Coast Berbice and East Coast Demerara and free flow of traffic resumed.
The Statement added: “The Heads of Joint Services also wish to inform the public that the Police is in receipt of reports and evidence of assault on members of the public, and have since arrested three persons, and will continue in their efforts to arrest and prosecute others who were identified breaking the law. The Joint Services would like to reassure the citizenry that it will continue to maintain law and order and ensure the unimpeded flow of traffic along the West Berbice corridor.”
