…says will be standing with West Berbice residents
The APNU+AFC Coalition said it will not attend the presentation of the national budget tomorrow but rather its MPs will be standing with the residents of West Coasg Berbice.
In a stagement on Tuesday the coalition said cognizant that Guyana is in a state of shock and deep mourning following the heinous killings of Isaiah Henry, Joel Henry and Orlando Jonas, it on Monday announced two days of national mourning – today, Tuesday September 8th and Wednesday September 9th.
“The APNU+AFC Coalition views it as imperative and paramount that leaders be with the people who are hurting and in anguish and who are in need of support, solidarity and comfort at this time,” the party said in the statement.
Further, from the announcements made to date, the colaition said it appears as though the “fraudulent and illegitimate PPP” regime is geared to present a budget that is shrouded in deceit.
One such example is the fact that the PPP made a grand promise to the disciplined services to “restore the one month end-of-year ‘bonus’” but has now announced a mere two week ‘fine change’. This represents a betrayal of the disciplined services.
The APNU+AFC Coalition said it consistently improved and increased the salaries of the disciplined services and all public servants – increases which they continue to receive on a monthly basis as opposed to the PPP tradition of a one-month handout. These are the same soldiers and policemen that the PPP have deployed to suppress legitimate protest and shoot innocent people on the West Coast Berbice.
The APNU+AFC Coalition will not countenance such depravation, deception and betrayal. Accordingly, the APNU+AFC Coalition advises the nation that its Members of Parliament will be with the people tomorrow and as a result will not be in attendance at Parliament.
