Kingston, Jamaica – Joel Engineer, the newest prodigious talent from the Unruly Camp, has officially stepped into the music scene as a producer with the release of his debut single, “Immigrant,” featuring none other than his uncle, the internationally renowned dancehall artist Popcaan. This marks a significant milestone for Joel, who is set to graduate from a prominent high school in Kingston later this month.

Joel, son of Unruly Squid and nephew of Popcaan, has been immersed in music from a young age. Growing up in the influential Unruly Camp, Joel has been deeply inspired by his mother, uncle, and Grammy Award-winning producer Notnice, who is the father of his younger brother. Their careers have left indelible marks on the global music landscape. Now, he is ready to make his own impact with a fresh and compelling sound.

Reflecting on his journey, Joel shares, “Growing up in the Unruly Camp has been a unique and inspiring experience. My mom and uncle have been my biggest influences. My uncle’s dedication and passion for music has always motivated me. With ‘Immigrant,’ I wanted to create something that resonates with Jamaicans and regional citizens living abroad. It’s a song about our experiences and the stories that connect us. I’m also incredibly excited to collaborate with other local artists and continue to grow as a producer.”

“Immigrant” is a powerful and heartfelt track that speaks to the immigrant experience, a theme that will undoubtedly resonate with many listeners. The single combines Joel’s innovative production skills with Popcaan’s signature lyrical prowess, creating a track that is both reflective and forward-thinking.

As Joel embarks on this new chapter in his life, he is eager to bring his unique perspective and creativity to the forefront of the music industry. His debut single “Immigrant” will be available on all major streaming platforms on Friday, June 14, 2024.
