Police ranks and health officials in Region Six are on the grounds seeking the whereabouts of Jagdeo Mohan, who arrived in Guyana on a special flight, and was placed in self-quarantine as is mandated by the Government of Guyana for all persons entering the country.
Upon entry Mohan underwent a COVID- 19 test and was expected to be quarantined for the required number of days pending the results of the test, however; when the test returned positive, health officials ventured to the man’s home only to find that the address and contact information he provided were false.
Police have been combing the Corentyne area in an attempt to locate Mohan or to at least have further details on where he is currently residing. Up to late last night police have been working tirelessly to find the man who is supposed to be in isolation following his status.
Meanwhile, there are reports of an East Canje resident who was also tested positive for the virus on Monday. Guyana recorded its first COVID case in March and the number has since sky rocketed to 737 confirmed cases with 25 deaths. Even though the curfew in Region Six has recently been relaxed, everyone is advised to take all precautionary measures and protect themselves from contracting the deadly virus. Mohan gave his address as 7&8 Number 74 Village Corentyne. He should contact the Regional COVID-19 Hotline on 667-4449 and 682-3055.
