A man was on Monday night shot and died Tuesday morning after he reportedly had tried to bring peace between a couple of D’Edward Village, West Coast Berbice.
Dead is Winston Robertson, 30, also known as Redman.
Village Voice was told that Robertson had tried to intervene in a fight between a man and his wife, when the man shot him to his chest. He was rushed to the Fort Wellington Public Hospital, but was later transferred to the New Amsterdam Hospital where he later died.
Village Voice understands that the suspect had accused his wife of cheating on him since Sunday evening. This led to constant arguments which escalated into a physical altercation on Monday. “He really beat the woman and she went away to stay by a friend at Cotton Tree- a neighbouring village.”
The suspect however, got knowledge of the woman’s whereabouts and went to the friend’s house where he met Robertson and the woman conversing. The suspect confronted Robertson and a fight ensued between them. Robertson was shot in the process. The suspect is still to be apprehended.
