Leeron Brumell back as EIC for NCN

The National Communications Network (NCN) has reinstated former Editor-in-Chief Leeron Brumell months after he was fired by the board following an altercation between him and the Director of Public Information, Imran Khan.

Brummel confirmed to Village Voice that he was rehired and will resume duties at the state broadcaster next week Monday. He held talks with top officials of the ruling PPP/C government earlier on Friday, Village Voice understands.

Back in January video recordings had surfaced with Khan and Brumell during the altercation. Enrico Woolford, then Chair of the NCN Board had told the media that security at the Homestretch Avenue, facility had examined video footage and it was upon the advice of the security officer that Brumell was firsts sent on leave. A subsequent investigation was launched following which Brumell was dismissed. Village Voice was told that he had received all of his benefits.

The incident had stemmed from Brumell objecting to radio announcer, Marcey Parker reading the news after she was listed as a candidate for the APNUAFC at the just concluded, general and regional elections. Khan would have none of that and had tried to overturn the decision, but was met with resistance from Brumell.
